Writing in Real Time

Journalism schools need to teach a different method of writing to deal with the speed required for breaking stories online. Just like the inverted pyramid was developed to deal with the technological problems of a wire service, where the story might get cut off at any moment.

The breaking new story could be written in stages, with a quick bullet-point outline then a two-three paragraph summary of what happened. Then a more thorough story being built around each bullet point as the story develops and time permits.
