Engaging vs. Entertaining

The goal of a feature story should always be to "engage" the audience, instead of simply entertaining them. Entertainment is simply another tool in the journalist's toolbox, it should never be the end goal.

Entertaining is the work of a gag comedian using props, or a stuntman purposefully skateboarding into a wall. Engaging is showing someone the world in a new way that briefly makes them go "hmmm".
